Operating clutches. - In treadle-engaged clutches for warp-beaming frames, the usual releasing-spring housed between the clutch members is replaced by two external springs anchored to the machine frame &c., in order to relieve the disengaged clutch of frictional drag and to improve the accessibility. The clutch of the Scotch beaming-frame comprises a lined driven disc A and loose driving-pulley D, provided with an actuating-collar E retained by a nut e and carrying arms e' pulled by screw-adjusted springs e<2>. The treadle H acts on a spring-retracted lever G coacting with a forked lever F, which embraces flats e<4> on the collar E to prevent its rotation and bears on lugs e<5> thereon to engage the clutch.
