Abstract

307,709. Deutsche Hydrierwerke Akt.- Ges. March 9, 1928, [Convention date]. Emulsions, making.-The products obtained by treating alcohols containing more than 8 carbon atoms in the molecule with sulphuric acid in the presence of acid anhydrides are used as emulsifying agents. Diluents, e.g. nitrobenzene or carbontetrachloride and catalysts, e.g. phosphoric anhydride or activated carbon may be employed in the sulphonation. Examples of alcohols used as starting materials are cetyl alcohol and the alcohols present in wool fat, beeswax and sperm oil. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of other sulphonating agents, e.g. chlorsulphonic acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
