Abstract

307,230. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). March 30, 1928. Manures.-Fertilizers are obtained by heating siliceous materials with an amount of phosphoric acid corresponding to from 1¢ to 8 times the weight of silica present to a tempearture above 250‹ C. Silica of any origin, for example quartz or river sand, may be used. The product, if containing free phosphoric acid, may be treated with ammonia. When the amounts of silica and phosphoric acid correspond to the equimolecular proportions of SiO2 and H3PO4, the final product corresponds to the formula SiO2.P2O5. For use the products obtained may be mixed with other fertilizers such as urea, calcium phosphate, ammonium phosphate or ammonium sulphate.
