293,942. Haddan. R., (Stackable, E. R.). May 19, 1927. Manures. - Mixed dicalcium phosphate and ammonium sulphate are produced by treating a mixture of phosphoric acid or its calcium acid salts and calcium sulphate with ammonia, preferably in the presence of a little water. Not more than two molecular weights of ammonia or more than one of calcium sulphate are allawed for each molecular weight of phosphoric acid, to prevent the formation of tricalcium phosphate. Gaseous or liquid anhydrous ammonia, may be led into a mixture of calcium sulphate and calcium acid phosphate, in which the latter bodies are in substantially equal molecular proportions, or into a mixture of phosphoric acid and material containing a large percentage of tricalcium phosphate and sulphuric acid with the same proportions of calcium sulphate and soluble phosphate. Phosphoric acid may absorb ammonia to form solid di-ammonium-hydrogen phosphate which is then mixed with solid calcium sulphate.
