Abstract

Stays.-In a telescopic casement stay of the kind in which the window may be opened to a limited degree but may not be fully opened without first closing the window, the stay having an elongated slot with an enlargement for the release of the stay when the window is closed, the said elongated slot is, according to the invention, incorporated in the internal telescopic member. The slot w is formed in the inner member v of the stay to provide, by engagement with the pin 7, secured to the end of the outer telescopic member 8, a restricted opening movement of the window. A plate x is located within the channel member v, having 'a slot with an opening to register with the hole 10 at one end of the slot w. The pin 7 is grooved at 11, and when this groove is level with the top web of the member v the stay can be extended to the limit of the slot w, after which the boss of the stem above the groove may rest on the top of the member x and, in engagement with the opening 12 in the member v, as shown in Fig. 3, to secure the window in the open position. To open the window more fully it is first closed to enable the member 7 to be disengaged through the opening 10; the member 7 is then caused to engage one of the holes 9 in the member v. According to the Provisional Specification, a coupling member may be used to provide for the limited telescopic movement of the stay members.
