Stands and like supports.-A vehicle lifting jack of the kind in which a non-rotating screwed. spindle is housed within a tubular lifting member operated by a nut on the spindle, has the spindle so connected to the tubular member that it can have a limited rocking movement. As adapted for a motor vehicle, the tubular lifting member 3 is held by brackets 1 on one of the car springs and has a cap 13 carrying a collar 12 connected by a pin 11 to a boss 10 connected by a universal joint 14 to the screwed spindle 7. The spindle is engaged by a nut 5 on a tube 4 having a groundengaging foot 15 and having splined thereon a wormwheel 6 rotated by gearing 16.
