Stands or supports.-Motor vehicles are raised out of contact with the ground when not in use by a series of screw-jacks which are permanently attached to the vehicle and actuated together or separately from a common operating-shaft. As. shown, each jack is actuated by a worm 11 driven through chain-and-sprocket gearing by a crank applied to the end 16 of the shaft 15. Eachsprocket 14 is connected to the shaft 15 by a clutch 17 which is actuated by a rod 18. A crank case can also be applied directly to the spindle of any worm.
