Abstract

145,096. Cottrell, W. F. March 21, 1919. Stands or supports for vehicles.-Jacking-devices for motor-vehicles comprise a plurality of jacks connected to a common road-gripping member and operated together. A transverse frame member 4 carries bearings for internally-screwed sleeves 10, 11, and a hand-wheel shaft 21. End movement of the sleeves and shaft is prevented, as by collars 12. Spindles 26 screw into the sleeves and are connected together at their lower ends by a base-plate 28 adapted to engage the ground. The sleeves are rotated to raise and lower the base-plate by the hand-wheel 22 acting through gearing 20, 17, 18. In a modification, the spindles 26 may be rotated, the sleeves being secured to the base-plate.
