Abstract
306,081. Orenstein, M. Feb. 15, 1928, [Convention date]. Soldering-irons.-In a soldering-iron for continuous soldering a carrier wire 10 made of non- fusible metal and embedded within the soldering paste 9 and soldering metal 8, Fig. 4, is employed to convey the solder to the iron 3 which may be electrically heated. The composite wire 7 passes from a drum 6 adjustably mounted on the shank 2 and through a groove 5 in the iron, where the solder is melted off. The carrier wire then passes over a roller 11, round a disc 14 to rotate the drum 6, and on to a roller 12 which is operated either mechanically or by the thumb of the operator. In a modification, the carrier wire may also be soldered on to the work.
