Opening tops; weather screens.-Road vehicles are provided with a frame, comprising sides and rear, which is adapted to be raised from and lowered into the double walls of the vehicle, the top of the frame being adapted to be closed by a flexible cover carried by a roller. The frame which comprises pillars a - - e some of which may be connected transversely by members f, f<1> and all of which are connected longitudinally by cant rails i which form the guides for the longitudinal edges of the cover mounted on a roller C, Fig. 18. The pillars a - - e are raised and lowered by means of screws l, Fig. 17, which are operated by longitudinal shafts m through bevels o, a clutch being provided comprising levers q and sliding sleeves p<1>. The cant rails are articulated at the door openings and are arranged to be unlocked when the frame is lowered to the waist rail to free the door openings. Side windows are provided having locks comprising sliding bolts to engage the pillars.
