Abstract
305,426. Hellyer, F. O., Hellyer, O. S., and Baldersheim, E. May, 30, 1928. Davits.-A davit arrangement in which four arms are supported from a central hollow pillar. Each arm 10 is supported at its head by the rod 15 to the member 19, which rotates on bearings at the top of the pillar 11, and at its heel by the element 22. The heads of the arms are also connected to each other by the framework 14. The fall wires pass) from a winch around pulleys 17, up the hollow pillar, over pulleys 18 to the davit arm sheaves 21. The davit is rotated by suitable worm gearing attached to the member 22. In a modification the arms are fixed to the hollow pillar, which is adapted to rotate about a fixed hollow support. Two boats can be supported at one time by this arrangement, and a third boat may be stowed on deck within the davit radius, to be lifted by the first vacant pair of arms when the second boat is swung outboard for lowering.
