[Cognate Application 24,991/12.] Davits; boat raising and lowering gear.-The invention relates to athwart - ship swinging davits held in position by pairs of guys with a row of stanchions at the rear of the davits provided with tackle for transporting the boats from their stowed positions to the davits. Booms d fastened to the deck e by ball-andsocket joints have their free ends connected by a span g carrying the raising and lowering tackle p which is carried inboard to a winch q. The boats a are stowed on a lounge deck above the boat deck, and they may be transported to either side of the deck by operating tackles n passing over the head of vertical posts c. When a boat has been swung between a pair of posts, the tackle from the opposite pair of posts is replaced by the tackle p from the booms d ; the boat is then lowered under the control of the tackles p, n which obviates swinging. The booms d are worked in and out board by the ropes i wound on a winch s and the rope j wound on a winch t.
