Abstract

305,407. Yarrow, H. E. April 10, 1928. Pulverulent-fuel burners.-In a pulverized fuel burner of the kind in which a conical obturator E partially closes the end of the central tube C through which the fuel-air mixture is supplied, the main air supply entering through ports in a sleeve H surrounding the discharge end of the tube, the discharge orifice F is formed so as to direct the mixture in an annular sheet across the path of the air stream. In the construction shown this orifice, formed between the cone E and the end of the tube C, directs the fuel mixture in a rearward direction into the air stream. Both the tube C and cone E are longitudinally adjustable. The main air supply passes through ports G in a fixed sleeve H, and thence through ports I in a longitudinally adjustable sleeve J carrying vanes which give the air a whirling motion in its passage to the discharge aperture N. The longitudinal relationship of the aperture N and the mixture discharge aperture F may be varied by adjustment of the sleeve J. The mixture may be given a whirling motion by means of vanes in the tube C.
