Abstract

304,706. Pedley, A. Oct. 19, 1927. Brakes, arrangement of.-Redates to spring- applied gramophone brakes adapted to be released either automatically by the sound-box when it reaches any predetermined position on the record, or by hand. According to the invention, the brake comprises an arm 2 extending over the turntable so that its free end is adapted to be engaged by the stylus, the arm 2 being fricticnalty pivoted on a latch member 4, and at some distance from the fulcrum 4<a> thereof. The member 4 has a catch projection 4b, which, when in engagement with a similar projection 6<b> on a pivoted disc 6 carrying a brake pad 6<c>, holds the brake in the " off " position. A spring 8 connects the parts 4. 6. A lever 7 is loosely pivoted on the same pivot pin 5<d> as that on. which the disc 6 is mounted, and serves both to release the brake from the latch, by hand-actuation at any time, and also to reset the brake, after it has been applied. The frictional mounting of the arm 2 allows it to be set so that the stylus can engage it when it has reached any point on the record, so as to cause the brake, to be applied automatically by movement of the latch 4.
