Coils, machines and apparatus for making.- Relates to a method of winding transformer, reactor, and like coils comprising a continuous conductor wound to form a number of disc coils in which the turns in adjacent coils start at the inside and outside respectively, the coils being separated by unbroken rings of insulating material as described in the parent Specification, and consists in arranging the two groups of rings A, B, used in the winding operation, in intermingled relationship. The two groups are arranged on brackets 4, 5 at the opposite end of the former 1 from which winding is commenced so as to lie in staggered relationship, thus enabling the conductor 6 to be threaded through the group B without passing through the group A. The winding is then formed in the, manner described in the parent Specification, except that it is not necessary for the rings A to be passed through the rings B. This makes it immaterial whether the rings are flexible or rigid, and consequently rings of any material or thickness may be employed.
