Abstract

303,344. Peters, P. A. Dec. 31, 1927, [Convention date]. Lantern fronts. - In a vehicle or other lamp, part 1 of a convex front glass is made reflecting, and the other part 2 is made diffusing, the glass being of parabolic or other curvature so that rays of light intercepted by the part 1 are thrown back on to the reflector 4 and then projected through the part 2. The part 1 may have a circular portion extending downwards so as to intercept all direct rays from the source of light 3. The reflecting surface 1 may comprise a layer of silver deposited from silver nitrate, and may be protected by a layer of copper, nickel, or other metal deposited galvanically, and a coating of enamel or artificial resin. The diffusing surface 2 is obtained by means of quartz crystals which are sprayed on to the glass and burnt in.
