Wire fabrics.-A screen guard is formed by turning up the edges 2x of the fabric 2 of the screen body, bending one of the flanges 1<x>, Fig. 4. of a flanged bar 1, previously cut to length, inwardly to form an acute angle 3, applying the flanged bar to the screen body by hooking the bent-up portion 2x of the body under the acute angle of the flanged bar and moving the bar inwards until its right angle fits over the right angle of the body fabric, Fig. 6. The adjacent corners of the bent over flanges are then clinched down, as at 4<x>, Fig. 7, and the overlapping parts of the flat portions of the flanges riveted as at 4, Fig. 7, or mitred, Fig. 11 and welded or otherwise secured, and the remainder of the bent over portions of the vertical sides of the flanged bars is then clinched down.
