Abstract
301,592. Wood, Ltd., H. J., and Coulter, W. Oct. 4, 1927. Pottery, throwing and turning. - A potter's jolley comprises a hollow rotatable body a, clutch mechanism c incorporated therewith in such a manner as to enable a two-part mould e to be installed within and withdrawn from the hollow body whilst the latter is in rotation, and means associated with the jolley for automatically locking the two halves of the mould together. The. mould e is carried by a coned member d on a spindle d<1> axially movable in a vertical shaft a<1> carrying the body a. The coned member d in its lowered position is adapted to engage the coned parts c<1> of the plate c, which has studs c<2> engaging bosses a<2> on the base of the body a, whereby the said plate and body rotate in unison. Rollers c<5>, which are connected to the plate c by adjustable links c<3>, are adapted to project through apertures a<5> in an annular projection a<3> on the body. When the plate c is depressed by the weight of the mould, the rollers c<5> are caused to contact with cam surfaces a<4> on the interior of the body a and are thereby brought into engagement with a groove e<1> in the upper part of the mould, the two halves of tho mould being then locked together. The hollow body is continuously rotated and to insert the mould in position the hollow coned member d is raised and its rotation arrested.
