Abstract
649,365. Centrifugal casting machines; chucks. SOC. POMPES NOEL, and BOUCHER, J. June 22, 1948, No. 16727. [Classes 83 (i) and 83 (iii)] Means for supporting a centrifugal mould concentrically within a jacket 2 comprises radially movable members 6 guided in the jacket and a rotatable ring 16 arranged around the jacket and in reversible engagement with the members 6. In the construction shown, the ring 16 is moved in the direction f by springs 17 and has rollers 14 each of which engages a wedge head 7, having an angle of 70-75 degrees, of one of said members 6, the inner end of which has a detachable shoe 11 of metal or cottonreinforced synthetic resin to slide easily on the mould 1. If the ring 16 is turned in a clockwise direction, relative to the jacket, springs 6a move the members outwards to release the mould. In practice there may be a plurality of the supporting devices. In a modification the ring is arranged to slide along the jacket instead of rotating thereon, the rollers &c. being arranged to correspond. The jacket may be filled with cooling liquid or may be arranged to dip in a water chamber.
