Abstract
592,999. Mixing-machines. CRUICKSHANK, Ltd., J., and GALLIMORE, F. W. June 6, 1945, No. 14227. [Class 86] In a mixing-machine having a stationary mixing bowl detachable from a support capable of being raised to an elevated position for mixing, and of being lowered for removal of the bowl, the latter is detachably secured to its support by a clamp, and means is operated by movement of the support, on rising to close and on lowering to release the clamp. A mixing bowl 23 is supported in a yoke 4 carried by a slide 5 movable vertically in a guideway formed in a vertical column 8. A bifurcated clamping member 20 carries lugs 24 hingedly attached by a pin 25 to lugs 26 on the slide 5, and is raised by springs 27 when the yoke 4 is in its lower position, to enable the bowl 23 to be placed within or to be removed from the yoke 4. The bowl 23 is raised by operating a hand wheel 19 to rotate a pinion 12 in mesh with a vertical toothed rack on the slide 5. During the rising movement a roller 29, carried by a lever 28 movable with the member 20 about the pivot 25, co-acts with a cam track 33 fitted to the vertical column 8. When the roller 28 cooperates with the upper portion 33a of the cam track 33, the clamping jaws 21 of the member 20 bear upon lugs 22 carried by the bowl 23 and the bowl is locked in the yoke 4. The jaws 21 may carry pivotally mounted plates to enable the clamping member 20 to co-operate with bowls of varying sizes.
