301,346. Hastings, G. Aug. 25, 1927. Coating surfaces with sheet material. - Show cases, panels, tablets, blotters, covers for writing- cases and books, &c. are provided with a protective covering of ce11u1oid or like transparent material, which is free from a glossy or shiny surface. A transparent sheet of celluloid, &c., having a mat surface previously prepared on one or both sides, is applied to the article or material with a mat surface outside, the opaqueness due to the mat surface being removed by the affixing process. The sheet may be affixed by treating it, or the surface to be covered, with a solvent, and then applying heat and pressure. A smooth metal plate may be placed on the mat face of the ce11u1oid, or the whole may be passed between heated rollers. The surface so produced may receive readily erasable notes, and is applicable as a memorandum tablet. In forming panels, tablets, &c., the covered material may be mounted on metal sheeting, and stretched over the edges of a stiff sheet or board, to which it is secured by glueing, &c. Both sides of an article, or sheet of paper, or other material, may be treated.
