Abstract

Reinforced concrete posts; posts of special cross-section.- A reinforced ferro - concrete mast, particularly for carrying electric lines, is cruxiform in section, one or more of the arms of the crosssection diminishing in length from the base of the mast to the top, other arms having a constant length. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, Fig. 2 is a section near the bottom of the mast, and Fig. 3 a section near the top. The web a has one vertical edge and one inclined from the vertical, lateral reinforcements b having constant cross-section. Holes d in the web a serve for handling the pole in transportation &c., and bolts f enter holes d<1> for connecting together masts e, e<1>, Fig. 4. As shown in Fig. 6, a composite mast may be formed by placing masts g round a wood pole h, and bolting the members together. An iron cap is placed on the end of the composite mast. Bracing members of concrete may be placed at different heights. In a modified construction, four masts are braced together, a metal pole being fitted at the top.
