300,778. Spencer, Moulton, & Co., Ltd., G., and Glascodine, R. T. Nov. 4, 1927. Addition to 253,264. Pickers.-In metal pickers of the kind described in the parent Specification, the rubber striking part 6 is carried by the head 4 of a readily removable metal pin the stem 3 of which passes through a hole in the metal body of the picker, and is secured by means that maintain the head of the pin against the picker body at 7. The pin has undercut grooves on to which is mounted a vulcanite face 5 of the rubber shuttle-engaging part 6. The pin is secured in place by a nut and lock nut on its threaded projecting end, or by a split pin or cotter 11 as shown. Rotation of the pin is prevented by a key 8 in the pin and a keyway 9 in the picker body. The hole for the picker spindle may be lined with lead-asbestos or other dry packing held in place by a ferrule 13 secured by a screw 14 at one or both ends of the spindle hole. The usual strap slot 15 is provided, or a steel wire may be passed through a bushed hole below and at right angles to the spindle hole and bent over the top of the picker to form a stirrup for engagement by the picking-strap.
