Abstract
300,645. Walter, C. Nov. 17, 1927, [Convention date]. Shuttle-changing mechanism. - Automatic shuttle changing and incidental temporary stoppage of the normal operations of the loom as described in Specification 213,274 is initiated, in the present instance by weft breakage &c., the weft fork lever 2 being for this purpose connected by a screw 3 to the feeler lever 1 which controls shuttle changing &c. When the weft breaks, the weft hammer engages the weft fork 4 and operates the lever 2 and the lever 1, which pushes out the starting lever 9 to cause loom stoppage and operation of the engaging lever of the cam shaft of the shuttle-changing mechanism. The weft hammer 5, 8 is operated by an eccentrically-mounted roller 7 or a cam so formed that the weft hammer quickly returns to normal position after having made its forward movement, a spring 10 quickly returning the parts to normal position before the loom has stopped, so that a free path is left for the starting lever when the loom re-starts.
