Coats.-To allow extension of the bottom of a coat when the weaner is seated, a pleat is provided at the lower part of one edge of the divided front, the free edge of which pleat is adapted to be engaged with a strip or a second pleat carried by the other edge of the divided front. The pleat 1 may be formed of the underfacing of the garment, and is secured to the outer facing by lines of stitches 2, 3. Buttonholes 6 engage buttons 11 on a strip 4 which may be secured by a vertical seam to the underfacing, or may form one flap of a pleat unsecured to the garment at the bottom and inner edges. To ensure the pleats being flat when not in use, the fold has a line of stitching 12, and buttons 8 and press fastenings 10, 13 are provided. The pleats may be double, imtead of single as shown.
