Abstract
300,358. Sutton, R. Sept. 29, 1927. Lamp failure warning devices.- A lamp A for indicating whether the rear lamp of a motorvehicle is extinguished is connected in series with the rear lamp B, the lamp A. being of less resistance than the rear lamp so as to reduce only slightly the current flow therethrough, the two lamps being of the same voltage and also of the same voltage as the battery C so that, should a short circuit occur in the rear lamp circuit, the lamp A gives an increased light instead of becoming extinguished. The lamp A may comprise a filament a<1> in a tube A<1>, Fig. 4, having metal caps a and held in a wooden holder D by a spring d<1>. In a modification, Figs. 5 and 6, 'the tube A<1> is held between springs, d<1>, d<2> connected to terminals E, E<1>. The front of the tube is covered by a disc F of red prismatic glass.
