Abstract
299,290. Weasel, C. July 24, 1928. Addition to 273,675. Hydrocarbons, distilling.-The process for distilling tar and recovering naphthalene therefrom described in the parent Specification is modified in that the tar is first heated indirectly to 180‹ C. to drive off water and light oils, and the heating is then discontinued while the naphthalene is distilled off by the direct mechanical action of steam injected into the tar at a temperature below 215‹ C. The process may be made continuous by heating the tar to 180‹ C. in a separate vessel and continuously feeding it to a second vessel into which steam is injected. Specification 100,493 also is referred to.
