Abstract

297,828. Kromschr÷der Akt.-Ges., G. Sept. 30, 1927, [Convention date]. Gas meters are provided with means for lubricating the surfaces of valves and valve-seatings in sliding contact. Fig. 1 shows a slide valve s formed hollow to receive a charge of lubricant inserted through an opening o closable by a screw plug. When the valve is in motion the lubricant is drawn through fine bores b from the chamber i to the engaging sliding surfaces. Fig. 6 shows a meter in which the left-hand valve s is fitted with lubricator cups a connected to the small bores b in the valve and the right-hand valve seating p has a small bore b connected to a lubricator y fitted with a pressure plunger j having a spindle u extending through the casing w of the counting mechanism. Alternatively the lubricator cips a may be connected to small bores in the valve seating. The cups a may be fitted with a valve v pressed on its seating by a tension or compression spring f. Temperature changes in one direction open the valve to admit gas to the cup and in the other direction to force a small amount of oil to the bearing surfaces.
