Abstract
296,756. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges. Sept. 7, 1927, [Convention date]. Mules and twiners.-Separate motors are provided, one to control the drawing-out of the carriage and the rotation of delivery rollers, and another to control the rotation of the, spindles during the outward run. The backing-off motion and the drawing-in of the carriage can be controlled by one or other of these motors or by separate motors. In the arrangement illustrated in Fig. 1, the motor 3 drives, the drawing-out scrolls 5 through a clutch 4 and the delivery rollers 2 through a clutch 6. The clutches 4, 6 are controlled by levers 9, 10, 11, 25 from a shaft 7 carrying cams 8, 26. The levers 9, 10 are connected by a spring 12 so that the rollers 2 can be stopped by the lever 25 opening the clutch 6 before the carriage 1 is brought to rest by the levers 9, 10 opening the clutch 4. The motor 13 drives the taking-in scrolls 27 through the clutch 18 and the tin rollers 24 through an epicyclic gear 15 controlled by brakes 16, 17 operated by cams 21, 22 on a shaft 20, which also carries a cam 23 to open the clutch 18. The brake 16 allows a high speed to be imparted to the spindles. When the brake 16 is released and the brake 17 applied, the spindles are rotated slowly in the reverse direction for backing-off. The winding-on is obtained from the quadrant chain 28 driving the tin-rollers through the clutch 19.
