Abstract
296,620. Titley, J. Jan. 17, 1928. Knobs, attaching. - Knobs b, Fig. 2, are detachably secured on threaded square spindles c by a plate d threaded on the spindle and having one or more integral or attached bolts g passing through the knob parallel to the spindle and secured at or within the outer end of the knob. The bolts may be threaded and secured by nuts, or they may have, grooved ends engaged either by a rotating cross-piece or by a slotted plate n secured by a screw r passing through an end plate q into the knob. The knob has a laminated mount k, Fig. 5, engaging the spindle and secured by a cap spun over the inner end of the knob. The fixed knob is secured bv a slotted plate s, Fig. 4, engaging opposite grooves t in the spindle c and also secured by the end cap. The Provisional Specification describes a modification in which both knobs are secured by plates with square holes and one or two bolts, one plate being riveted on the spindle and the other plate secured bv a nut. The detachable knob may also be secured by a plate threaded on the spindle and carrying one bolt which also passes through another plate having a square aperture for the spindle. The fixed knob is secured by riveting the ends of the bolts over a plate in the end recess of the knob.
