Paper bags, making.- Relates to apparatus, for forming valves in paper bag tubes, such as that described in Specification 250,917, and comprising spreaders 17 adapted to enter the gusset 14 of the bag near a corner thereof and open it out in front of clamps 16, and a tucking finger 18 which folds back the ends of the gusset fold in between the spread-apart sides. To crease the folds made in the sides of the bag during the spreading operation, the sides are spread against abutments 21, and are pressed thereagainst by reciprocating or other members 27 whilst in the outspread position.
