Abstract
295,792. Grant, J. June 20, 1927. Fly-screens.-A wire mesh screen 2, in a frame 1, is attached to the bottom sliding window sash 12 bv shouldered bolts 7, nut 13 and wing-nuts 9, 14, and is adapted to move with the sash and rest in an opening in the sill when the window is closed. The screen is guided by spaced attached rods 3 sliding between rollers on pins 21 in the forked end of bolts 18 attached to the sill by brackets 19. In a modification the screen may be in sections 30, 32 slidably connected by channel-members 35 on the centre member 31 and projections on the members 30, 32. The section 30 is connected to the sash by two slotted members 40, 41, Fig. 4, adjustably bolted together and secured respectively to the sash between nuts 51, 52 and to the section by nut 45. The lower section 32 is guided by spaced rods 6 and rollers 65 in a forked member adjustably bolted to a fixed slotted bracket 50 on the sill. When applied to hinged sliding sashes the screen has projecting parts guided by rods and detachably engaging channel members on the sash. When in the hinging positions the sash may be rotated away from the screen and automatically free a bolt which locks the screen in position on the guide rods. The screen may be guided by a wire passing through an eye in a fixed bracket.
