Abstract
295,538. Peter, R. Dec. 19, 1927. Locks, controlling operation of.-A lock operated by a double key comprises a disc 24 having a lateral bolt extension 2 and rotatable by a key-operated clutch member 3 rotatable and slidable. within the casing 1. Normally, tappet projections 19 of member 3 are held out of engagement with tappet projections 26 of disc 24 by springs 10 and in this disengaged position member 3 is held against rotation by projections 22 thereon engaging corresponding recesses in the casing 1. Movement of member 3 into engagement with disc 24 is normally prevented by pins 5 (round which the springs 10 are disposed) carried by a rotatable plate 4. Member 3 has arcuate grooves terminating in longitudinal holes 20, and normally the free ends of the pins rest in the grooves, plate 4 being biassed to the requisite position by springs 8. The key is in two parts 11, 12 telescopically connected. Part 11 has a portion 30 adapted to engage a keyreceiving head 29 on member 3, and the end of part 12 is adapted to engage a key-receiving head 28 on plate 4. To operate the lock, plate 4 is first rotated by the part 12 to bring the pins 5 into register with the holes 20, so that member- 3 may be moved inwards by pressure on part 11, projections 19, 26 being thereby engaged so that subsequent rotation of member 3 by key part 30 rotates the disc 24 and bolt 2.
