DOOR-LOCK.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Mar, 12, 1918,
Application filed August 15, 1917. Serial No. 186,268.
vices shown in the accompanying drawings,
in which- Figure 1 is a view showing the mechanism with the cover plate removed.
Fig. 2 is a detailed view of one of the slid I ing bolts.
Fig. 3 is a section on line AA of Fig. 1.
The device consists of a casing 1, with a pair of guide ways 2 and 3, on which are slidably mounted the sliding bolts 4 and 5. These bolts are slidable to and from each other. The detail of one of these is shown inFig. 2. At about the center of each of these bolts is a pin or projection 6 and 7. This projection extends through the cam shaped slots 8 and 9 in the bolt operating slide 10. This bolt operating slide operates back and forth in a direction at right angles to that of bolts 4 and 5, and is guided on the lug 11. At one end of the bolt operating slide is the slot 12 wherein is slidably mounted the detaining dog 13. This dog 13 is held downward by means of a spring 1 1.
This device is operated by means of a key which is inserted through the keyhole 14: and
rotates in the direction of arrow 15 until it comes in contact with the lower end of dog 13. The continued rotation of the key causes the dog 13; to be raised until it is clear of the lug 15 thenthe key comes in contact with the slot side 12 and moves the bolt slide in the direction of arrow 16 until the pins 6 and '7 are engaged by the angular or cam shaped portions of the slots 8 and 9, and the'bolts 4 and 5 are drawn apart or away from each other.
The keeper for the sliding bolts consists of a body member 17 with the lug 18 thereon, this lug is provided with an, opening 21 wherein the projections 19 and 20 enter when the lock is 'in its closed position.
In Fig. 3 the casing is shown mounted on a swinging door 22 and the keeper on a doorpost 23.
What we claim is 1 A door lock comprising a casing contain- 7 ing dog operatively mounted on the said bolt operating slide.
