Aeroplanes; planes, arrangement and construction of; controlling.-A monoplane is convertible during flight into a biplane (or a biplane into a triplane) by lowering a wing 2 nested under the main wing 1 by screws acting on frames 5<1>, 7 attached to the wing- spars. By unequally lowering the front and back spars the wing 2 can be given varying incidence. The screws are enclosed in stream-line struts 4<1>, slotted to give passage to the brackets 21 connecting the nuts 15 to frames 5<1> and reinforced by bars 17', 17" which are grooved to serve as guides for the nuts. The wing 2 moves between inclined struts connecting the plane 1 to the fuselage, and in one form, no provision is made for varying the incidence of the wing 2.
