Abstract

420,313. Propeller arrangement on aircraft. STIEGER, H. J., c/o General Aircraft, Ltd., Croydon Aerodrome, Croydon. June 14, 1933, No. 16987. [Class 4] In an monoplane having two or more airscrews rotating approximately in the same plane the propellers are arranged closely approximate to each other, the fuselage being arranged above a line joining the airscrew axes. As shown applied to a low-wing monoplane the propellers are in the same transverse plane or approximately so and approach one another at the point x, and the front portion of the fuselage carrying guns 4 is intersected by the propellers. The sides of the fuselage 1, in the path of the propellers, are made concave or wedge-shaped. The. fuselage is supported on upswept wing roots 5 and an additional spar 10 may interconnect the engine nacelles 6 and form a mounting for bomb racks. A gun may be placed aft of the main planes.
