Drawings to Specification. [Class 4] In an aeroplane comprising two aircraft elements, one consisting of a main aircraft and the other of an auxiliary aircraft, mounted one on top of the other and releasably attached one to the other so that they both assist in enabling the compound aeroplane to takeoff and climb more easily than the main aircraft alone, one of the elements has a single central fuselage while the other element has twin side-by-side fuselages or outriggers, each carrying a separate tail unit. Two of the attachments are situated on the undercarriage of the upper aircraft and vertically above the undercarriage of the lower aircraft, a third attachment being located centrally of the two elements, on a central cabin of the lower aircraft, and approximately midway between their wings and tails. Either element may be a monoplane, biplane or multiplane machine and control of the compound aeroplane may be provided as described in Specification 429,948.
