1,069,781. Disposition of engines on aircraft. BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORPORATION (OPERATING) Ltd. March 25, 1964 [Feb. 14, 1963], No. 6064/63. Heading B7G. An aircraft has jet propulsion engines, such as ducted fan or by-pass engines, mounted in pods on upstanding swept-back pylons on the wings. Each pod contains one or two engines, the nozzle(s) of which lie in or just aft of a transverse plane at the rear of a passenger cabin. The centres of gravity of the engines lie rearwardly of the wing mid-chord line and forwardly of the trailing edge. A single pylon on each wing is located between a quarter and a half of the semi-span outboard of the centre-line, or two pylons on each wing are located between one and three quarters of the semi-span.
