Abstract
1,086,697. Aircraft. A. P. PEDRICK. Sept. 19, 1966, No. 51113/65. Headings B7G and B7W. An aircraft with rear-mounted power plant on the fuselage or with power plant on a delta wing, has a joint in the fuselage forward of the wing which may be released to enable the fore part of the fuselage housing crew and passengers to be separated from the rear part and, in one embodiment, forcibly separated therefrom, to enable the fuselage to descend under parachute support. The parachutes may be stowed in the upper part of the fuselage or laterally in the underflow cargo compartment. The aft part of the aircraft may have a retarding parachute. Hinged structural members are described to provide bending strength at the fuselage joint and an arrangement is described in which the fuselage, with passengers may be transported as a unit by helicopter.
