Aeroplanes; nacelles; planes, construction of; steering.-The main supporting plane of an aeroplane is kite-shaped in plan, the nacelle b being supported upon or suspended under the front part, and the elevators c, rudder d, fin e, and tail skid f being supported by the narrow rear part. The framework of the plane comprises straight or stream-lined longitudinal sides and intermediate spars with top and bottom booms k separated by vertical braced struts, lateral members m running through the longitudinal members being braced by cross-wires n. Ailerons g are mounted on outwardly-projecting shafts. Two or more nacelles, each furnished wifh an engine unit, may be provided. The construction of plane and the relative arrangement of the nacelle and tail surfaces are also applicable to biplanes and seaplanes.
