Compound flooring slabs comprise a thin layer 1, constituted by several wood veneer elements abutting at their edges, glued to an agglomerated slab 2 consisting of sawdust, wood shavings, cork waste, asbestos, &c. and a binding agent. The edges of the panels may be bevelled inwardly. The panels may be secured on a floor by mortar or glue and may be previously coated with bitumen or tar.
