Overhead lamps.-A dust-proof globe, more particularly for diffused on indirect lighting, comprises a bowl A. of glass or other transparent or translucent material, supported by chains B<1>, B<2>, B<3>, and provided with an upstanding flange A<2> adapted to engage with a depending flange E<1> of a readily detachable hood E which is also made of transparent or translucent material and carries a source of light G. The free edge of the flange E<1> may rest directly on the bowl A or the weight of the hood E and lamp G may be taken by the cable 1. The lamp holder F may be secured to the hood E in any suitable manner, such as by means of screw rings H which allow of adjustment for focussing purposes.
