Cable joints. - The end of a lead or other metal sheathing 1 cut away to expose the insulated conductor 2 is covered by an insulating double cone 3 of paper &c. around the greatest diameter of which is sprung a toroidal coil 5 of resilient wire or strip. Wire &c. 4 is wound on the side of the cone 3 next the sheathing 1 and is connected to the toroid 5 and sheathing 1 by collars bands, or wires 6. The construction is stated to be applicable to end sleeves for closing up the metal coverings of cables.
