Abstract

290,972. Soc. Electro Mecanique d'Appareillage pour l'Essence. May 21, 1927, [Convention date]. Spigot-and-socket screwed joints; joints with yielding inner part expanded.-The end 1 of a hose pipe which is reinforced internally by a wire spring 14, as described in Specification 206,406, [Class 72, Iron &c.], is coupled to a nozzle 17, Fig. 1, by a union which comprises a conical plug member 5 adapted to be inserted into the hose and a nut 15 to engage the nozzle, the conical plug 5 and nut 15 being connected by a shouldered tubular member 11 which is forced into a recess 9 in the said plug member. The plug member is formed externally with a helical groove 7 having a daimeter and pitch similar to that of the reinforcing wire so as to enable it to be screwed into the end of the hose, while the latter is provided with a pressed metal casing 2. In a modification the tubular member 11 is formed integral with the conical plug 5 and may be screwthreaded to engage an internally threaded nozzle; alternatively it may terminate in a ring portion 28, Fig. 4, adapted to slip over a conduit at right angles thereto.
