Abstract

290,009. Hambling, F. H. March 22, 1927. Change-speed gearing.-The change-speed gearbox E floats on or is carried by an extended driving-shaft D and is held against torque reaction by lugs (not shown) secured to the vehicle frame M. In the construction shown applied to a Morgan car the extended shaft D is substituted for the usual cross-shaft carrying two chain sprockets and drives a single sprocket J through the three-speed gearing shown. The sprocket J drives the single rear wheel through a chain K.
