Porcelain, earthenware, and like plastic composition.-To produce ceramic articles resistant to acids and heat, powdered silicon or ferro-silicon is added to usual ceramic materials. The ferrosilicon may contain 90-95 per cent of silicon. The proportion of silicion or ferro-silicon may be up to 90 per cent of the mixture. When high percentages of silicon or ferro-silicon are used, the ceramic material contains easily fusible compounds such as materials containing borates or boracic acid.
