Abstract

288,871. Borel, M. A., (Assignee of Challet, E.). June 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Linear-dimension gauges.-For sliding calliper gauges fitted with removing scribing points, holders are provided which receive the scribing point when not in use, and which serve for attaching the points, being readily disconnected from them when they are securely attached to the callipers. The jaws f of the calliper e are screwed and countersunk in the ends f<1>, f<2> to receive the screwed shank k of the scribing point. The holder comprises a cylindrical body provided with four longitudinal grooves in each of which lies an elastic wire i secured by two fastenings i<1>. The cylindrical part l of the scribing point is provided with four grooves into which the ends of the wires i are adapted to slide. The holder may be used as a tool for holding the scribing point while screwing it into or unscrewing it from the calliper jaws, and also serves as a receptacle for the scribing point when not in use. The scribing point is conical and pointed, conical and rounded at the point, or frusto-conical at the end according to the work with which it is to be used. In a modification the bottom of the grooves l<1> are formed of two arcs meeting in a point or ridge over which the wires are sprung. The points may be screwed into a holder for use in grinding.
