Abstract

288,761. London Electric Railway Co., and Chipperfield, W. Feb. 5, 1927. Tools; tool-holders.-In a tool-holder for metal-turning lathes &c. the tool 19 is stepped on one face to engage a grooved face 17 on the holder 11, the tool being mounted in an oblique position so a:; to be tangential to the work, and the lower end being entirely supported by a projection 13 at the bottom of the groove. The tool is secured by a clamping plate 22 and bolt 25, the plate having an engaging surface at 23 and a locatmg key at 24. The holder is provided with a lateral extension 12 forming a large mass of metal which serves to cool the tool and also to transmit lateral thrust to the tool-support through a shoulder 29. The lower portion of the holder has a transverse depending flange for locating it on the support.
