Abstract

488,400. Lathe &c. tools. O.K. TOOL CO., Inc. Aug. 28, 1937, No. 23617. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1936. [Class 83 (iii)] A lathe &c. tool comprises a tool holder A, Fig. 1, having a recess therein, adapted to receive a shankless toolbit B, defined by a rearwardly and laterally inclined serrated tool-seating surface 14 and a rear abutment wall 15, the tool-bit having a base portion with a serrated bottom surface inclined in two directions complemental to those of the recess so that the serrated surfaces co-operate as positive means for raising or lowering the tool-bit relative to the holder as the former is shifted laterally on its seat in the recess. A clamping plate 17 and bolt C may be used to hold the tool-bit in its recess, or the bottom surface of the recess may be formed on a wedge-piece movable longitudinally of the holder portion by a screwed rod to clamp the tool-bit against a projecting upper lip on the holder.
