Abstract

288,687. Cowper, J. S. Jan. 7, 1927. Composite paving blocks. -Rubber or like paving blocks are provided with a strengthening inlay A of sheet or girder formation composed of a hard material such as iron, terra-cotta, concrete, cement, brick or the like and furnished with fasteners or attachments B, C for interconnecting adjacent blocks. The inlay is encased in the rubber or the like which enters the perforations D. when these are provided, the whole being then vulcanized. The inlay is embedded in the core or panel of the blocks described in Specification 201,450. and in the hard central layer of the blocks described in Specification 225,897. The fasteners may be of hook-and-eye catch, clasp, or press-stud formation. Fig. 5 shows an inlay suitable for half-overlapping twin blocks as described in Specification 225,897, but in the present instance moulded as a single block.
